Biography

 Darren C Gilbert was born in 1960 in Ilion, NY, but grew up in the Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts. An avid reader, he particularly enjoys military history, epic sagas, spy novels, and historical fiction. 

His three novels, Serpents Underfoot, Montagnard, and Reciprocity, have all received outstanding reviews from Kirkus and have collectively won several awards. Reciprocity was featured in the June 1st edition of Publishers Weekly magazine. Adirondack Bear Tales, a collection of true short stories, is very popular with readers of all ages. A fourth JD Cordell novel is in the works. 

In addition to serving in the U.S. Army from 1979 to 1983, Darren has over 40 years of martial arts training and ran a karate dojo for 12 years. He has earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Tennessee and Western Governors University, respectively. Darren is also a graduate of Executive Security International’s Advanced Executive Protection Program and is a Certified Protection Specialist. An avid dog lover, he enjoys spending time with his German Shepherd, Sophie.
